Find out exactly what it costs to run any appliance based on its wattage, daily usage, and your electricity rate.
Every appliance's energy cost comes down to its wattage, how long you run it, and what your utility charges per kilowatt-hour (kWh). This calculator breaks that down into daily, monthly, and yearly costs for any single appliance.
Cost = (Watts ÷ 1000) × Hours Used × Electricity Rate ($/kWh)
A 1,500-watt appliance run 2 hours a day at $0.15/kWh costs about $0.45/day, $13.50/month, or about $164/year.
It multiplies the appliance's wattage by hours of use, converts to kilowatt-hours (kWh), and multiplies by your electricity rate per kWh.
Check the label on the appliance itself, its manual, or the box it came in — most list wattage or amps (watts = amps × volts).
Only if you include standby hours separately; this estimate assumes active-use wattage for the hours you specify.
