At 3:15, the minute hand points to 15 × 6 = 90°. The hour hand has moved past 3 o'clock: (3 × 30) + (15 × 0.5) = 90 + 7.5 = 97.5°. The angle between them is |97.5 − 90| = 7.5°.

How is the angle between clock hands calculated?

The hour hand moves 0.5° per minute and the minute hand moves 6° per minute; the calculator finds the absolute difference between their positions (and the smaller of the two possible angles).

What's the angle at 3:00 exactly?

Why isn't the hour hand exactly on the hour mark most of the time?
