The nth root of a number x is a value that, when multiplied by itself n times, equals x. The square root (n=2) and cube root (n=3) are the most common, but this calculator works for any root degree.
Nth Root of x = x^(1/n)
For negative numbers, only odd roots (3rd, 5th, 7th...) give a real result; even roots of negative numbers are not real numbers.
The 3rd root (cube root) of 64 is 64^(1/3) = 4, since 4 × 4 × 4 = 64.
The nth root of a number — e.g. the cube root of 27 is 3.
The nth root of x equals x raised to the power of (1/n).
Odd roots of negatives are real; even roots of negatives require imaginary numbers.
