Estimate how much data your household uses each month so you can pick the right internet plan.
Different online activities use very different amounts of data - 4K streaming can use over twice as much as HD, while browsing and messaging use comparatively little. This calculator applies typical per-hour data rates to estimate your household's total.
Daily Data (GB) = (HD Hours × 3) + (4K Hours × 7) + (Video Call Hours × 0.5) + (Browsing Hours × 0.15)
3 hours of HD, 1 hour of 4K, 2 hours of video calls, and 4 hours of browsing adds up to about 17.6 GB/day, or roughly 528 GB/month.
It sums the typical data consumption of your regular activities (streaming, browsing, gaming, video calls) based on average usage rates per hour for each activity type.
It varies by quality — SD streaming might use around 1 GB/hour, HD around 3 GB/hour, and 4K can use 7 GB/hour or more, so quality settings significantly affect data usage.
It's still useful for households with data caps, for identifying which activities use the most bandwidth, or for choosing an appropriate internet plan speed.
